We stopped at the Sea Caves. When we got out of our cars no one could believe just how cold and windy it was. You had to lean forward into the wind to cross the highway. The sea caves are 180' down the cliffs, so they provide an elevator, good thing or not many would get to see this. It's dark in the caves and camera flash is prohibited so no photo's in the cave. It is really something to see and it's like a museum down in the caves, with a lot of history. If your ever that way it's a must see.
We stopped by the Port of Sacramento to meet some of our snowbird Club Members that live in the area. They took us to the pier and the Fat City Restraurant. Wow!!!, what a nice set up, good food and the best calimari you have ever eaten. The girls got in a little shopping, while guys went and checked out the docks.
We stopped off to see the famous Oregon Sand Dunes. We should have realized how big these were as the highway we were traveling was just covered with sand. When we turned off the highway we were immediately on a sand road. These are all a fee area and controlled by Oregon State Parks. They allow off road vehicles to go where ever they want and that looked pretty neat to me, as these guys really have huge areas to use their toys. They also had a camping area set aside for RV campers. We just proceeded to the dunes. Whew!!! These dunes are really high and hard to climb. As you can see Shirley and the rest of the group really just made it. From the top there were beautiful sandy beaches for as far as the eye could see.
