The Yacht Club has provided boat patrol and land patrol services to the International Jet Sport Boating Association (IJSBA) since their inception in 1982 until 2004. Starting in 2003 we opted not to do the land operations as our aging membership could no longer perform the necessary gate duties. The land patrol was sure a fun thing while it lasted, but it takes a lot of people to make it work, so we decided to only perform the water patrol operations. The event had a 7 day race schedule plus a couple of days for buoy set and retrieve made it a long event. Being the World Finals it brings qualified racers from more than 30 countries. The racers that qualify for this event are considered the best racers in the world so is a quite a professional program. In 2004 the promoters decided they would sacrafice professionalizm/safety to save a few $ so they farmed it out to other volunteers.
