Our First Opening Day Ceremony was held in 1998
Even though our weather in Lake Havasu allows you to use your boat all year long, the Club lake boating activities in the winter are limited to regatta's, parades, fishing, some patrol duties and a few specials events. So, our Opening Day Program is a kick off for the Clubs summer activities and a good excuse to party. The boats get decorated with ballons, ribbons, flags and music, then we parade around the lake, though Bridgewater Channel and come back to the marina for a bar-b-que or raft up in Thompson Bay and party before going back to the Club for a ceremony. When we started this event it was sponsored by The Lake Havasu Marina and all the slip renters were invited as guests, so it gave us a chance to tell them a little about our Club History and activities. Some of the Club Members volunteered and opened their boats to guests that would like to know a little more about the Club. This of course included some really nice refreshments. It has always been a good time.
