Annual Charity Golf Tournament
The Club began to host its Annual Golf Tournament back in 1993 as a Club Fund Raiser. It started on the Island Golf Course and for our first event we went all out and had several Football Celebrities come and help us to promote the Event. We had many golfers and the Club brought in a lot of $ but when we finished paying all the bills there just wasn’t much $ left. So, even though we had a great turnout and everyone had a great time we had a lesson learned.

Over the years we made adjustments and finally turned the event into a Charity Golf Tournament that would support our Annual High School Scholarships awards. We later turned it into a Invitational Charity Golf Tournament giving the Club a little more flexibility in managing the program and by that time this single event had grown enough to support "All of the Club’s Charity Programs".

By the time the 14th Annual Charity Golf Tournament came along we decided to introduce the "Celebrity" aspect again. to help bring life back into the program. Robin Ventura, Major League Super Star, recently retired from the Las Angeles Dodgers, came complete with autographed Baseballs and Bats. He proved he is not only a Super Star Ball Player, even more important a "SUPER PERSON", he was not only a paying player but he brought a foursome plus with him to the Tournament. Yep!!!, they drove all the way from Arroyo Grande California just to participate in the event.

This was a tough season as our Tournament Chairman was diagnosed with cancer in his sinus cavities and needed surgery, while we were right in the middle of the program. Well if you can imagine, John being the person he is decided to stick with the program and see it through. Even our Tournament Treasurer required a 4-way by-pass, but was able to hold off until after the Tournament. Talk about dedication and as one might expect the Tournament turned out to be one of the most successful the Club has had. Sort of gives one an idea of the caliber of people we have in our Club.
